Summary he seven killed were crushed to death during the stampede in PTI rally.
MULTAN (Web Desk / AP) – Two of the victims who lost their lives in a stampede after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Multan on Friday night have been laid to rest on Saturday, Dunya News reported.
Funeral prayers of Muawiya and Salman were offered at Siddiq Park where senior politicians including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hasmi, social activists, religious personalities and a large number of citizens were present.
Funeral prayer of another victim identified as Salimullah, a resident of Qasim Bela, will be offered today at 3:00pm.
The stampede happened at the end of the rally, when PTI chief Imran Khan s supporters tried to push their way out of a gate after listening to his speech at a local stadium. Forty injured people were rushed to Nishtar Hospital.
Police said over 40,000 people attended the rally. The seven killed were crushed to death during the stampede.
Khan has led mass sit-ins in the capital, Islamabad, since August, demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif step down over alleged fraud in the 2013 elections.
Pro-Khan rallies elsewhere in Pakistan have been mostly free of violence.
Imran Khan has blamed local administration for the incident, saying that lights were switched off soon after his speech and only two gates out of four were opened for the rally participants to exit.
