KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least 29 people died, while another 24 are still fighting for their live as a result of drinking raw alcohol since the first day of Eid, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, the victims belonged to Sharafi Goth, Chanesar Goth, Gulshan Jamal, Zaman Town, Landhi and Korangi areas of Karachi.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah took the notice of the incident and summoned report from the Inspector General (IG).
Shah appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East as Inquiry Officer to conduct the investigation.
DIG has suspended Station House Officers (SHO) of Landhi, Korangi, Zaman Town, Sharafi Goth and Shah Latif Town stations. Additionally, two DSPs (Deputy Superintendent of Police) were also suspended and an inquiry has been ordered against them.
The police have also started a crackdown against the dealers of raw alcohol.
At least three persons were taken into custody in the first phase who are being held for interrogation.
