Summary Admiral Zakaullah lauded the services of out-going Admiral Asif Sandila for Pakistan Navy.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Admiral Zakaullah has taken over the Command of the Pakistan Navy. The change of command ceremony was held at Pakistan Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday morning in which outgoing Naval Chief Admiral Asif Sandela handed over the Command to the new Naval Chief.
Addressing the ceremony Admiral Zakaullah said it will be his effort to maintain professional readiness of Pakistan Navy.
He said ensuring maritime security is mandatory for national security and prosperity of the country.
Prevailing situation is complex, challenging and evolving but no stone will be left unturned to enhance the professional capabilities of Pakistan Navy, Admiral Zakaullah added.
He also lauded the services of out-going Admiral Asif Sandila for Pakistan Navy.
Admiral Zakaullah was commissioned in the operations branch of Pakistan Navy in June 1978. He is a recipient of the Sword of Honour. On his graduation, he was awarded Chief of The Naval Staff Gold Medal.
He is a graduate of Royal Naval Staff College (UK) and National Defence University Islamabad. He holds MA (Defence Studies) degree from London University and MSc (War Studies) degree from Quaid-e-Azam University.
He has commanded the destroyer Tippu Sultan, Pakistan Naval Academy and the 25th destroyer squadron. His other appointments include directing staff PN Staff College, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans) and Defence Attaché in Qatar.
Admiral Zakaullah has been awarded president’s award for pride of performance, president’s medal, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (military), sitara-e-Imtiaz (military) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (military) as well.
