Summary Workers protested on non-payment of dues, 3-day drive also started in Punjab
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – anti-polio drive in Karachi is facing certain serious problems in sensitive areas of Karachi. Anti-polio drive was postponed till tomorrow (Tuesday) in 2 of the union councils of Gadaap Town. Workers also protested on non-payment of the dues. Three-day drive in Punjab has also been started now.
According to Dunya News, three-day anti-polio drive in Karachi’s high-risk areas including Sarjani Town, Gadaap Town, Landhi and Baldia Town has been started. Drive could not be started in various areas of Karachi as security officials did not arrive on time. Police teams for Gadaap and Sarjani towns could not be set up. Security arrangements for volunteers could not be made while workers protested over non-payment in North Karachi. Target of two 22 lac children to be vaccinated had been set during the three-day anti-polio drive. Hundreds of volunteers’ teams have been formed for this drive.
On the other hand, three-day anti-polio drive in South Punjab including Multan has also been started. 17.5 million children of the province will be given polio vaccine during this drive. 29,000 teams have been established in this regard. To make the drive effective, polio teams have set up stalls at railway stations, schools, government hospitals and bus-stands along with door-to-door drive.
