Summary Session court in Islamabad announced verdict on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plea.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A local court in Islamabad on Saturday ordered police to register case against eleven prominent personalities including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a case pertaining to killing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers.

Additional session judge Shahrukh Arjmand heard PTI’s petition regarding registration of case against killing of four party activists during clash with police on August 30.

During case proceedings, PTI lawyer told court that Imran Khan, during his address on June 27 in Bahawalpur, formally announced to hold sit-in in Islamabad on August 14. The sit-in was staged after the government s permission. Later, protestors peacefully marched towards Red Zone on August 19 evening.

No PTI worker violated the law, the lawyer added.

He told court that police resorted to shelling and firing when PTI chief Imran Khan asked protestors to move in front of the PM House. The clash resulted into deaths of four PTI workers while hundreds sustained injuries.

The PML-N led government misused state power and police for the sake of its personal interest, the lawyer told court.

The court was informed that police directly opened fire on Imran Khan’s container and the Defence Minister in his remarks on television had claimed that the crackdown was launched after Prime Minister s consent.

After hearing arguments, the court directed police to book eleven accused including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, CM Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif and Ralway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique.

PTI has also nominated IG Punjab, IG Railway police, SSP Operation, Deputy Commissioner and the then IG Khalid Khattak in the First Information Report.

Meanwhile, the court has also accepted PTI’s plea to include section 7 of Anti Terrorism Act in the case.
