ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Supreme Court has restored the provincial assembly membership of Chaudry Ashraf Warraich of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) today.
A three member bench headed by Justice Saqib Nisar commenced the hearing of the case for the restoration of member provincial assembly Ch. Ashraf Warraich and reinstated his status as member provincial assembly.
Ch. Ashraf had won the elections from constituency PP-97 of Gujranwala and Nasir Cheema of Pakistan Muslim league Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) had challenged the electoral results in the court on the accusation of rigging.
Election tribunal had therefore cancelled the membership of Ch. Ashraf Warraich and ordered to hold elections in the constituency again.
The Apex Court has now restored the membership of Ashraf Warraich and adjourned the case hearing till October 15.
