QUETTA (Web Desk) – At least three people including and Frontier Constabulary personnel were killed while 24 others sustained injuries a bomb exploded near vehicle of security forces in Satellite Town area of the provincial capital, Dunya News reported.
FC personnel were on a routine patrol in the area when a bomb planted in a car parked near Habib Bank Chowk exploded.
The powerful explosion was heard far and wide causing panic in the city, which was already under the grip of violent attacks.
Police and security forces cordoned off the blast site and collected evidence from the scene.
According to Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), at least 40kg explosives were used in the remote-controlled bomb to target FC vehicle. Three rickshaws and nearby buildings were also damaged in the blast.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility of the attack.
Various Baloch groups have waged a bloody insurgency for at least a decade to demand more autonomy, a greater share of their province s mineral wealth and in some cases full independence. But their activities have largely been confined to Balochistan, a huge, sparsely populated province bordering Iran and Afghanistan.
They regularly attack security forces in the province and blow up gas pipelines.
