ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Advisor on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister, Sartaj Aziz said on Friday that the government will not let the country face an irreparable loss, adding that Chinese President’s official visit to Pakistan will be rescheduled, Dunya News reported.
The session of National Assembly’s interim committee for foreign affairs was presided over by Awais Laghari. The committee discussed the situation of the sit-in protests staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) other than expressing grave concerns over Chinese President’s postponement of the official visit.
The committee said that the Foreign Office should present report of how the diplomatic relations have been affected due to the sit-in protests.
The committee also recommended the government to settle the issues with PTI and PAT as soon as possible.
Briefing the committee, Sartaj Aziz said that the government will not let the country face an irreparable loss, adding that the postponed trip will be rescheduled.
He said that the government is in contact with China, adding that China has assured a presidential visit to Pakistan soon. He said that the government is scheduled to meet China’s Foreign Minister at the SCO conference on September 11 in which the rescheduling the visit of Chinese President will be discussed.
He told the committee that the agreements worth 35 billion dollars will be signed during Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan.
The committee also requested to reschedule the visits of Sri Lanka and Maldives presidents to Pakistan.
