Parliament stays united against threats to democracy: Raza Rabbani

Summary Rabbani accused TuQ for enticing violence and posing allegations on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senior leader of Pakistan People’s party (PPP) Raza Rabbani while addressing to the session of the parliament today said the parliament stands united against any threat posed at democracy.

Talking about the sovereignty of democracy Raza Rabani said conspiracy to sabotage democracy is not a new concept and may continue, but we are determined to stay united and face all threats.

If any heed would have been paid to the complaints of the other stakeholders, present situation could have been prevented.
He further emphasized that PPP has suffered through the loss of leadership in the past and had kept their cool and continued to stand by the system even after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

As soon as Raza Rabbani subjected Tahirul Qadri in reference to his comments on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, members of the House started to chant ‘shame, shame’.

Senior leader of PPP accused TuQ for enticing violence and later disowning his statements.

He vowed not let anyone dishonour the sanctity of the parliament and the constitution and so the parliament stands stanch on one platform.

Rabbani suggested borrowing help from the Charter of Democracy in order to aptly address the ongoing crisis.

While pointing out the havoc the rain has caused in Punjab, he advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to put the political engagements aside and deploy Punjab government to address the issue of people dying.
