Both Pervez Rasheed and Saad Rafique had a brief meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi while he was going to address the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad today. Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders re-offered talks to Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Meanwhile, Former President of Pakistan and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari is due to arrive in Islamabad today in the wake of the political crisis to play his role in resolving the issues. He would be meeting the senior leaders of Pakistan People’s Party and would also contact the opposition parties’ leadership in a bid to end the political deadlock.
Asif Ali Zardari shortened his trip to China and returned to Karachi on Monday. He has decided to stay in Islamabad to play his role in resolving the political impasse in Islamabad. Demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over alleged rigging in general elections of 2013, PTI chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek cleric Tahirul Qadri are leading protests in Islamabad since August 15. Sirajul Haq and former Interior Minister Rehman Malik also agreed to resolve the conflict through dialogue.
Former president also contacted Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Mehmood Achakzai, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi over the phone and deliberated over the ongoing crisis in detail.
A meeting between Jamaat chief and PPP leader Rehman Malik also took place. Addressing the media, Sirajul Haq said that politics, constitution and democracy are facing threats.
