Summary PM summons joint parliament session on Tuesday
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News, Web Desk) -- Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif presided over a ‘high level’ meeting on Sunday, which has decided to summon a joint parliament session on Tuesday 2nd September to discuss the present political predicament, and they condemned the aggression on the parliament house by protesters in Islamabad.
PM stressed that no one would be allowed to violate the sanctity of the parliament, and neither would anyone be allowed to question the supremacy of the constitution. PM also condemned the attack on media employees, and gave orders for strict action against the responsible officials.
The joint session appreciated the efforts of the Islamabad police for successfully protecting the state buildings. The members present at the session mutually agreed upon furthering the process of political dialogue to resolve the current political crisis.
During the riot outside the parliament house, three people were killed and more than 500 people were injured due to police shelling at the protesters, who were trying to encroach upon state territory.
