Summary PM Nawaz and Zardari decided not to accept unconstitutional demands

RAIWIND: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have decided not to accept resignation and unconstitutional demands. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari met today (Saturday) in Raiwind. Both the leaders have agreed upon not accepting unconstitutional demands of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

PM Nawaz Sharif said during the meeting that PMLN has always pursued the policy of reconciliation. He said that if some people find some problems with the system, they must voice their concerns in the Parliament.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari said on this occasion that he will not let the democracy to derail under any condition. He said that political problems should be solved politically. “PPP has always sacrificed for the sake of democracy and democratic institutions”, said Zardari.

Briefing the media about the meeting, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that no extra-constitutional measure will be given support. He said that Asif Ali Zardari also asked to find a constitutional solution of the current situation. He also said that all the political parties have decided not to safeguard the Parliament under all conditions.

Ishaq Dar said that PPP has maintained throughout that it will not support any extra-constitutional step. He said that Prime Minister’s resignation will not be discussed. He said that 2 out of 6 demands by PTI have already been met.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said on this occasion that both the parties have decided to safeguard the constitution.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told that former President Asif Zardari believes the demand of PM’s resignation to be unconstitutional and equivalent to weakening the state.

Abdul Qadir Baloch said that he and his team have already responded to PTI’s demands. He said that PTI’s response was still awaited. He told that there will be another meeting with the PTI’s negotiation team at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, former President Zardari and his aides have arrived in Mansoora to discuss the situation with Jamaat-i-Islami head Maulana Sirajul Haq
