KHYBER AGENCY (Web Desk) – At least two people were killed and another person sustained injuries when unknown militants attacked Nato oil containers in Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber tribal region on Thursday, Dunya News reported.
The attack took place near Sur Kamar area when a convoy of Nato supplies was heading towards Afghanistan.
The land routes through Pakistan have been vital to getting supplies to NATO forces in Afghanistan and are now increasingly being used to ship equipment out as the international coalition draws down its troops.
According to local administration, five attackers riding on motorbikes opened indiscriminate fire and fired a rocket on the convoy. Resultantly, an oil container caught fire. Driver and cleaner were killed while another helper sustained injuries in the incident.
Militants escaped from the scene when Khasadr forces retaliated.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Hundreds of NATO supply trucks have been destroyed in Pakistan in the past few years. Militants say the supplies are used to target its members fighting against Nato troops in Afghanistan.
