Summary Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and other artists perform live at Independence Day Ceremony
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sahrif and several other dignitaries attended the Independence Day Celebrations in Parliament House today (Wednesday). Federal Cabinet members including Senator Pervez Rasheed, Khawaja Asif and several others were also present on the occasion. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
Members of Parliament, Governors of all the provinces and officers of the armed forces were present on this occasion.
Prime Minister examined the parade of Pakistan Army.
The ceremony started off with recitation of the Holy Koran. Several artists performed in the ceremony including internationally acclaimed singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Ejaz-ul-Haq (PML-Z), Rasheed Godil (MQM), Aitezaz Ahsan (PPP) and Ahsan Iqbal (PML-N) were prominent among the politicians present at the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister wished the nation a very Happuy Independence Day. He congratulated the Army for conducting a successful operation against the terrorists.
PM announced that this Independence Day was attributed to the martyrs of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. He paid rich tribute to the martyrs and their families. “I salute the mothers who receive their sons’ dead bodies and do not even complain”, said the Prime Minister.
Nawaz Sahrif said that Pakistan wanted a peaceful region. He said that the Government of Pakistan wanted good relations with the international community, especially the neighbouring countries.
“We seriously want a peaceful solution to Kashmir issue”, said Nawaz Sharif. Prime Minister said he wanted a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.
PM condemned Israeli barbarity against Palestine. He asked United Nations to take notice of the issue.
Nawaz Sharif said he wanted a prosperous Pakistan where every kid could receive quality education.
