ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former president Pervez Musharraf said on Sunday that he doesn’t need to run away from the country, adding that the government should step down if it can’t put the country on the way to progress, Dunya News reported.
Addressing All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) convention held in Islamabad, former president General (retd) Musharraf said that the people of Pakistan have been suffering for the past six years, and that no progress is being made in the country.
He said there are not enough employment opportunities and that the poverty rate is growing.
Former president said that the corruption has reached its upper limit after Musharraf left.
He said everyone should think about putting Pakistan back on track. Musharraf condemned Model Town tragedy and the events taking place in Lahore today.
Musharraf said the cases against him are false baseless, adding that he will face all charges.
He said he has done so much for Pakistan and wants to go abroad only to meet his ailing mother, adding that he will come back to Pakistan.
He said he doesn’t need to run away, adding that his whole life is in Pakistan. The APML convention elected Musharraf as party’s chairman.
