Summary Suspension of cellular services and ban on pillion riding is also considered ahead of PTI's march.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – In the latest development, the Punjab government has summoned Rangers in Lahore ahead of Youm-e-Shuhuda and Azadi March. Rangers will also be deployed in other cities if needed.

According to the latest reports, the Interior Ministry has given an approval over the request of Punjab government for the deployment of Rangers in the city of Lahore.

The Punjab government had requested for five companies of Rangers to maintain peace in Lahore. According to sources, the Rangers will be deployed from 10 till 14th of August.

On the other hand, the Punjab government had also requested for two helicopters for the air surveillance of Youm-e-Shuhuda and Azadi March.

A letter has also been written to federal government to suspend mobile services in 15 cities of Punjab.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Mashhood on Friday said the provincial government is reviewing options to impose ban on pillion riding and suspend mobile networks on the occasion of Youm-e-Shuhada.

Talking to media at Lahore Board office, the law minister said that operation in North Waziristan being conducted against those who do not obey law and constitution and Dr Tahirul Qadri also opposes law and constitution. Qadri is working on the foreign agenda, he added.

He said decision on the case regarding Tahirul Qadri’s arrest will be taken after the report of legal branch.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri had announced August 10 as Youm-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Day).

Earlier, Qadri had demanded that the ruling PML-N government resign by the end of the month following deadly clashes with his supporters in June.
