ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has said that Article 245 of the constitution was imposed in Islamabad in the best national interest, adding that it wasn t appropriate to politicize every matter.
Addressing the media in Islamabad, he condemned the way few politicians presented the Article 245.
The Interior Minister said Article 245 was part of the constitution, adding that army had been called in under this article for almost 11 times since 2007.
He reiterated the army was called in to provide security to the masses.
Rejecting the notion that army had been given control of federal capital, he stressed that the armed forces will only assist the civil government in maintaining law and order.
Hinting towards Imran Khan’s long march, Nisar said the imposition had no connection with any sit-in, political party’s rally or long march.
He said those who were criticizing the decision were making army controversial. He said the article was invoked after taking all concerned department s onboard.
