ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The US citizen arrested on Friday at Islamabad airport for carrying ammunition has been released on bail.
The Airports Security Force (ASF) arrested American citizen, identified as William Johns, at Benazir International Airport after finding bullets of 9mm pistol along with a magazine in his possession.
Johns was going back to America from Islamabad. According to sources, the arrested person is working as a trainer at US embassy.
The ASF officials handed over the citizen to police for further investigation. According to police, John made a mistake and didn t realize that he was carrying ammunition.
Earlier in May, US citizen Joel Cox was arrested from Jinnah International Airport Karachi for carrying bullets and a knife.
Cox later turned out to be an FBI agent and was released for having diplomatic immunity.
In 2011, a CIA contractor Raymond Davis was held and charged with killing two men. Davis said that he believed they were trying to rob him.
The case inflamed local anti-American sentiment and soured relations until the United States agreed to compensate the families of the two men. Davis was then freed.
