Summary Police have been carrying out search operations in Islamabad to ensure safety.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Law enforcement agencies took 12 suspects into custody as a result of a joint operation in Islamabad on Thursday, Dunya News reported.
Police carried out an operation in Rawat on a tip-off regarding the presence of criminal elements. The operation was carried out in the jurisdiction of Sihala police station in Rawat area. Police, Rangers and secret forces took part in the operation taking 12 suspects into custody.
Weaponry in possession of the suspects has also been recovered in large amount. The accused taken into custody are to be further interrogated.
Police have been carrying out search operations in the city to ensure safety. Last week, eight outlaws were arrested from various areas of the city and considerable amount of weapons and stolen property was recovered from their possession.
In the previous week, police had foiled an attempt to smuggle huge cache of weapons and recovered twenty 12 bore automatic rifles, one SMG and over 23 rounds from a vehicle near Peshawar Mor.
The details revealed that the police stopped a suspected car near Peshawar Mor, following which its occupant tried to escape from the scene. Police team chased the vehicle and managed to arrest accused Akhtar Nawaz along with his wife and recovered large amount of weapons.
Islamabad City Transport (ICT) police would be formulating intelligence units to fight crime in the city. The intelligence units are to be set up at police station level dedicated to solving crime and sharing proactive information both within the police department and with the law enforcement agencies. Moreover, panic alert system is being introduced that is an efficient induction to the existing system to ensure the security of the citizens. Furthermore, Islamabad police would be provided with modern FCG guns in the wake of rising security threats in the federal capital and hence it’s essential to equip the police.
