Summary Commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban among the dead; 80% of Mirali town declared clear.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Army instigated ground operation in Mirali today (Tuesday). Six militants including the commander of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) got killed in the initial action.

During a media briefing in Lahore today, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that they would leave no stone unturned to wipe out any extremist elements.

Armed forces have been successfully combating these militant entities in North Waziristan and moving forward. According to DG ISPR, ground operation has been initiated in Mirali killing six militants including the commander, Matiullah, of Tehreek-e-Taliban.

Major General Asim Bajwa stated “North Waziristan has become the hub of terrorists.” He further added that the army has cleared 80% of Miranshah area. Giving the statistics he stated 26 soldiers have been martyred as a result of the operation Zarb-e-Azb whereas the number of migrants has mounted to 9 Lac. DG ISPR expressed sheer determination to solve whatsoever issues being faced by IDPs.

As per the reports on July 13, several Taliban terrorists were killed during an attack by the Pakistan Air Force in Mir Ali early morning on Sunday. Five hideouts of the terrorists were also destroyed during these air strikes as the Pakistan Army continues to penetrate deeper into the badlands that were previously controlled by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) briefing to the media, the air strikes also targeted reservoirs of ammunition and terrorist hideouts in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).

It was reported on July 12, that 13 terrorists were taken down by the Pakistan Army during the fresh attacks in Mir Ali. Two of the terrorists had blown themselves up as well when they found themselves surrounded by the Armed forces of the country.

During the same strikes that were reported earlier by Dunya News, seven hideouts of the terrorist outfits were also destroyed. According to the ISPR three terrorists had also been arrested by the Army whereas one among the three was an Uzbek.

So far, several IEDs and hideouts have been destroyed and unearthed by the Pak forces. During the strikes conducted yesterday 6 motorcycle borne IEDs and 2 vehicle-borne IEDs were discovered. 11 suicide jackets were also taken into custody by the Army.

Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that the whole nation supports Pakistan Army in fight against the militants in North Waziristan, Dunya News reported.

Speaking with the affected families from North Waziristan, the Chief Minister said that the militants had paralyzed the country. Pakistan Army is bravely fighting the terrorists.

Shahbaz Sharif added that the sacrifices of IDPS who have left their hometowns for the sake of peace are commendable. Sharif pledged his support for the IDPS saying that the government will go the limit in relocating all the affected families. He said that the government will achieve the dream of making Pakistan an Islamic Welfare State. Currently, nobody is willing to invest in Pakistan because of the horrid threat of terrorism, said Sharif.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif had met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and briefed him over the developments in operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched on June 15 after a dramatic attack on Karachi airport last month which killed dozens of people and marked the end of a faltering peace process with the Tehreek-e-Taliban.
