ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called N-league’s senior leadership for a meeting today in Islamabad. The agenda of the meeting is to chalk out government’s strategy over the prevailing political scenario including Imran’s long march and Qadri’s revolution threats. The topic under discussion would also include Independence Day celebration plan.
According to PM’s spokesman, PM Nawaz Sharif also met governor Punjab, Mamnoon Hussain, to discuss the overall political situation in addition to issues pertaining to the assistance and care of the migrants from North Waziristan.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique appealed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to change the date and venue of its long march protest scheduled for August 14.
Addressing the media at Lahore press club, he said the government wants to resolve the issues with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri, claiming that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Sheikh Rasheed come in the way.
Saad Rafique said that Imran Khan should not divide the nation by turning the Independence Day into the day of protest. He said the whole nation should unite under one flag on August 14 to send a message to the nation.
He said the living nations don’t indulge in confrontations like this, adding that Imran Khan should try to solve the issues in parliament, adding that the country is in state of war. He said the time now is not to pull legs of the government.
He urged Imran Khan to change the date, adding that PMLN wants to settle things with Tahirul Qadri as well.
On the other hand, PTI spokesperson Shireen Mazari has confirmed that long march will take place in any case. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee session is scheduled to take place on July 15. PTI will review the arrangements made for the long march and the government’s invitation to join Independence Day celebrations.
The overall political and security situation of the country along with long march preparations and government’s invitation are the agenda of the meeting.
The committee will also devise plan B in the event of house arrest of party leaders. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also brief the committee on the provincial activities to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
In addition to this, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that he will leave no stone unturned to bring revolution in the country.
Addressing workers convention at Minhajul Quran on Monday, he said that the rulers were serving their business interests in the name of democracy.
Why the rulers deny workers’ rights guaranteed in the Constitution, Qadri added. He said if the system based on loot and corruption by the present rulers is called democracy then it should be derailed.
Tahirul Qadri said bread, clothes and shelter was not his personal problem but he was struggling for the basic rights of the masses.
The PAT chief said those living in the houses of hundred of canals would not come out for the workers’ rights. He vowed to bring revolution and build workers houses in place of rulers’ palaces.
Qadri said Pakistan Awami Tehreek would give maximum representation to the workers in the elections.
