Summary The meeting discussed national security and progress of the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday.

According to sources, they discussed issues pertaining to national and internal security as well as issues relating to the situation in North Waziristan and progress of the ongoing military operation.

Shahbaz Sharif also briefed the Prime Minister about the steps taken by the Punjab government regarding assistance of IDPs.

The meeting noted with satisfaction that the civil and military leadership appeared to be on the same page on matters of national security.

Later, while chairing another meeting, Nawaz Sharif said China was an earnest trading partner of Pakistan and its cooperation would yield economic benefits in the country.

He directed for the timely completion of these projects.  He also directed to expedite the work on Jetty at Gaddani on priority basis.

Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal gave briefing about the development projects initiated under the auspices of Chinese companies.

He said all out efforts will be made to complete the development projects within a span of three years.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that the Chinese collaboration in the development projects is a catalyst in expediting the process of development in the country.

The PM was told that timely review and time-line matrix of the respective projects has been formulated.  China and Pakistan have mutually agreed to follow the timeline so that all the projects are completed as soon as possible.
