LAHORE (Dunya News) – National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) on Friday submitted voters verification report for the constituency NA118 to Election Tribunal. The report concludes that no record of fifty thousand votes was found, while another twenty five thousand voters could not be verified, Dunya News reported.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN)’s Riaz Malik had won the Member National Assembly (MNA) seat from this constituency.
NADRA completed the thumb impression verification report and submitted to the election tribunal probing the votes upon rigging charges.
A complaint was filed before Judge Kazim Malik of election tribunal by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Hamid Zaman to probe against the alleged election rigging in NA 118 constituency.
NADRA officials completed the vote count through thumb impression verification and sent the report to the election tribunal.
As per the report, PMLN’s Riaz Malik succeeded by getting one lakh three thousand three hundred and forty six votes but only fifteen thousand votes could be successfully verified. The report also notes the startling discovery that there was no record of over fifty thousand votes, whereas over twenty five thousand votes could not be accounted for.
Some four thousand votes were also declared bogus and fake.
Following NADRA’s report, the court fined a sum of Rs 10,000 to the winning candidate Riaz Malik for failing to record his statement and adjourned the hearing for another week.
