ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that Dasu hydel power project will prove to be a milestone to address the electricity shortage in the country.
He was performing the ground breaking of 4,320 megawatt Dasu hydel power project at Dassu in District Kohistan today.
The Prime Minister said hydel resources will fully be exploited to overcome electricity crisis. He said work on Diamer Basha dam will also be started soon.
Nawaz Sharif said power projects of forty thousand megawatt could be installed on the river indus while currently only seven thousand megawatt electricity is being generated from it.
The Dassu hydel project will be completed in two phases.
The first phase will be completed in five years time which will add 2,160 megawatt electricity to the national grid.
The run of the river project will help generate cheap electricity.
The World Bank will provide one billion dollars for the Dasu project.
