Sindh Assembly passes condemnation resolution against Lahore tragedy

Summary Sharjeel Memon says Rana Sanaullah’s statement shows Punjab government is involved in the incident.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution condemning Model Town incident. The opposition members staged a symbolic walkout from the House.

The session started with speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in chair.

Addressing the House, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that statement of Rana Sanaullah showed that the Punjab government was involved in the incident. He said that most of the protests are held in Karachi but incident like Model Town never occurred here.

Memon said that Tahirul Qadri staged protest sit-in with 50,000 during PPP government but no chaos took place. He said why the court was not taking notice of the incident as it used to take suo moto notice even on a minor issue.

Meanwhile, Opposition in Punjab Assembly protested against the incident and staged walkout. The Model Town incident also was raised in the National Assembly.

Opposition Leader Syed Khurshid Shah said that the government was constantly making mistakes and Advisors of PML-N were inefficient.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi demanded to withdraw FIR against three thousand people.

Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai said Supreme Court (SC) commission should be constituted to probe the incident.

Federal Minster for Denfence Production Rana Tanvir said that ‘hidden hand’ could be involved in the incident. He urged to wait the investigation report of the incident.
