Political, religious parties strongly condemn Handery Masieh's assassination

Summary Balochistan's minority MPA was assassinated by own security guard in Quetta today.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Political leaders including Altaf Hussain, Sirajul Haq, Khursheed Shah and Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned Balochistan’s Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Handery Masieh’s assassination by own security guard. The national assembly session observed silence for two minutes. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the Balochistan government to take strict action against the perpetrators, Dunya News reported.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the murder and ordered the Balochistan government to take strict action against the culprits.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain termed the assassination a gruesome murder and said that murders like these are a conspiracy to malign Pakistan at global level.
Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq demanded to give ‘exemplary punishment’ to the culprit behind the assassination.
Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that extremism and intolerance have become an ill of the society.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif termed the murder as tragic and said that words can’t be enough to condemn the murder.
Masieh’s assassination was also discussed in National Assembly session. Members observed 2-minute silence while strongly condemning the murder.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Shaharyar Afridi demanded transparent inquiry of the murder, adding that no one is safe from their own security guards these days.
Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) leader Maulana Amin Zaman said that Balochistan members provincial assembly have no adequate security and that they are left solely on the mercy of God.
Handery Masieh, a member of the Balochistan Assembly, was shot dead in Quetta on Saturday.
According to details, Handery Masih’s personal security guard sprayed bullets on him outside his residence in Nawa Killi area of Quetta.
He was shifted to FC Hospital where he could not survive.
Minority MPA Handery Masieh belonged to National Party. He was elected in the Balochistan Assembly on the reserved seat for minorities from NM-65 constituency.
Handery Masieh’s nephew was also injured in the shooting incident.
According to sources, the security guard identified as Ghulam Mohiuddin has been arrested. He was serving the Baloch lawmaker for last 12 years, however, motive behind the attack could not be ascertained as yet.
