KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said on Wednesday that they are striving for establishment of an enlightened and moderate society, adding that if his party comes to power, the legislation will be done to eliminate the term ‘minority’ from the constitution, Dunya News reported.
Addressing party workers via telephone on the occasion of All Pakistan Muttahida Student Organization (APMSO)’s 36th foundation day, Hussain said that MQM is against every sort of violence and wants peace in the country.
He said that the founding father Quaid-e-Azam assured equal rights to all citizens, adding that if his party makes the government, it will remove the word ‘minority’ from the constitution through legislation.
Hussain said that he always appealed the party workers to stay peaceful, adding that MQM resents violence and loves peace. He said that he was arrested in ‘false cases’ earlier as well and that the current charges are false as well.
He appealed the workers not to lose hope.
MQM chief said that he and his party are striving for an enlightened and moderate Pakistan.
