LAHORE / ISLAMABAD / QUETTA (Dunya News) – The nation is celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer with great fervour and zeal today.
The historic nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan in Rasko hills of Chaghi district of Balochistan on May 28, 1998, in response to Indian explosions made the country seventh nuclear nation of the world and first Islamic state equipped with nuclear arsenal.
These nuclear tests gave a clear message to the world that despite Pakistan is a peace loving country but it cannot ignore its defence needs and is capable of meeting any challenge.
In order to highlight the importance of the day and achievement made by Pakistan on that day for its defence, functions are being held in all parts of the country. Rallies and special functions are also being held by political and religious parties in this regard.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in their messages on the occasion, have said strong defence guarantees a nation s solidarity and identity.
The President said it is a natural right of every nation and society to secure its survival and solidarity. He said today the country is confronted with a host of internal and external challenges and it is imperative that we should move ahead in unity.
The Prime Minister assured the nation that Pakistan has a strong defence against any aggression. He said the nuclear assets that are guarantee of national security are in safe hands and the same fact has been expressed and reiterated by numerous international institutions.
He, however, emphasized that Pakistan being a responsible nation is playing a vibrant role in the comity of nations.
