LAHORE (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Monday) left for New Delhi to attend the oath taking ceremony of Indian Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi.
Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Secretary to PM Javed Aslam, Aizaz Ahmed and son Hussain Nawaz will accompany Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The delegation will arive at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:00am.
Narendra Modi s swearing-in ceremony, to be held at the forecourt of the historic Rashtrapati Bhavan, is likely to be attended by as many as 3,000 guests including leaders of all South Asian countries.
It is the first time since the two countries won independence in 1947 that a prime minister from one state will attend such a ceremony in the other.
The event will provide an opportunity to the two sides to devise a strategy to normalize their relations and ensure peace in the region.
