ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Police has written to commissioner asking for formation of a joint investigation team to probe allegations against Geo TV over airing allegedly blasphemous content. The series of lodging complaints against Geo TV in police stations continue in various cities including Gujrat, Bhawana and Tharparkar, Dunya News reported.
According to police, the complaint against Geo TV and the allegations are being evaluated fully before the arrest of the accused is made. Police will first gather evidence regarding the allegations leveled in the First Information Report (FIR), and then decide over any possible arrest of the nominated accused.
Police sources add that the video recording of the broadcast in question will be obtained to investigate the charges and for the purpose of investigation, the law ministry along with police’s legal branch and Federal Investigation Authority’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing will be contacted to assist.
Police sources further say that the requirements of investigation will be fulfilled before making an arrest.
Meanwhile, people continue to lodge complaints against Geo TV’s offending broadcast in police stations of various cities including Gujrat, Bhawana and Tharparkar.
