ISLAMABAD/LAHORE (Dunya News) – Islamabad additional session judge Jahangir Awan has ordered police to register case against Mir Shakilur Rehman, anchor Shaista Wahidi along with others responsible for airing objectionable content in Geo’s morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan .

The plea was submitted by a local Arshad Butt in session court. The court directed Margalla police station to file case against those responsible for the programme.

The court ordered to add section 295-A, 295-C, 298-A of blasphemy law along with the terrorism section 7-ATA.

Meanwhile, a session court in Lahore has reserved its decision over a plea, seeking registration of case against Mir Shakilur Rehman, Dr Shaista Wahidi and Veena Malik.

Earlier, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) also slammed Geo TV with a show-cause notice for allegedly airing blasphemous content, seeking immediate explanation.

The show-caused notice was issued by PEMRA over the objectionable content broadcasted in Geo Entertainment’s morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’.

According to PEMRA spokesperson, over 5000 complaints were received against the show. They said that the complaints have been sent to the Complaint Council for review.
