Summary Police intercepted protesting PTI workers outside Nadra office in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) workers were baton charged by the police when they tried to enter Red Zone in the federal capital, Dunya News reported on Friday.
Four PTI workers were reportedly injured in the incident.
Later, PTI workers were allowed to hold protest demonstrations near Nadra Chowk after senior politicians Shah Mehmood Qureshi gave five minutes ultimatum to authorities.
Security has been tightened in Red Zone and outside office of the Election Commission of Pakistan. More than 900 security personnel have been deployed to avert any untoward incident.
According to police, road leading towards election commission office has been sealed. The policemen have been ordered to take strict action if anyone tries to disrupt peace in the area.
It may be mentioned here that PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced to hold protest demonstrations outside the election commission office every Friday, demanding electoral reforms and vote recount in four constituencies.
