Summary Meeting was attended by key figures including Prime Minister and Army Chief.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that there could be a reaction to Karachi operation and that the government has to brace for it. Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said that he knows that political leadership can carry police recruitment process without political influence, Dunya News reported.
Addressing session about Karachi peace at governor house, Prime Minister said that terrorism and crime should not be associated with politics, adding that working towards peace should be above any political differences.
He said that he started Karachi operation after taking political parties in confidence and that the government wants to improve the situation while keeping allies on board.
Prime Minister said that Karachi is a significant place for him. He said that the mandate should be given to institutions and administration, adding that law enforcement should be given complete authority.
He said capacity building of the police force is vital and that Karachi operation will affect without it.
He welcomed the appointment of retired army officers in Karachi police. He said that the government brought Pakistan Protection Ordinance to solve the problems.
Nawaz Sharif said that a committee has been formed to solve problems under current circumstances.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said that things will progress with regards to Karachi operation.
He said that he is confident that political leadership can handle recruitment and transfers in police force without any political influence.
He said that whenever army is consulted over any issue, they will give honest recommendations and support the federal and provincial governments with utmost honesty and sincerity.
Army Chief said that there’s no obstacle between parties and democratic forces. He said that he knows that only political leadership can arm and strengthen the police force.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari said that the police force needs to be provided with facilities, adding that joint effort is necessary for improvement in Karachi. He said his party will support Interior Minister in whatever way possible.
Zardari said that his government appointed two thousand retired army officers in police force and that the prosecution is being made more effective.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the goods that were promised in the previous session will be provided.
He said that the issue of illegal sim cards is a complicated problem. Nisar said that the government awaited 3G technology and that Pakistan now has the technology.
He said that strong steps needed to get rid of illegal sim cards.
Karachi police chief told the session that the crime rate will reduce by 50% if illegal sim cards are curbed. He further said that police is acting indiscriminately against suspects and that there’s no pressure on the police.
