Benazir murder case hearing adjourned till May 17

Summary ATC judge Ismail Pervez Joya heard the case today (Monday).

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi adjourned the hearing of Benazir Bhutto murder case till May 17 due to absence of FIA prosecutor and lawyers’ strike, Dunya News reported on Monday.

ATC judge Ismail Pervez Joya heard the case.

FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar excused from appearing before court due to security reasons.

In a letter, Chaudhry Azhar told court that he will not be able to appear before court until full security is provided to him.

Subsequently, the court adjourned case hearing till May 17.

Since his return to Pakistan in a bid to contest the 2013 general election, the former army strongman has been embroiled in a number of cases against him, ranging from judges  detention to Benazir s assassination to treason against the state.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a gun-and-bomb attack outside Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007 while Musharraf was president. She was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in the city.
