Summary A 5.0 magnitude earthquake jolted Nawabshah and its adjoining areas on Thursday morning.
NAWABSHAH (Dunya News) – An earthquake measuring 5.0 on Richter Scale struck Nawabshah and its adjoining area around 4:00am on Thursday.
According to Dunya News correspondent, a number of houses collapsed due the quake as a result one person was killed and 40 others sustained injuries.
The epicentre of the quake was 27km northwest of Nawabshah at the depth of 10km.
The quake spread panic among people and they rushed out of their homes and began praying.
Pakistan is among the most earthquake-prone regions of the world with high vulnerability to earthquakes. In Oct. 2005, a high intensity quake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Pakistan, causing large scale destruction and killing over 80,000 people besides leaving millions others homeless.
