KOTLI (Dunya News) - Indian forces once again violated the Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing for the second time this week.

Pakistani army strongly retaliated that silenced the Indian guns.

According to sources, Indian army carried out mortar shelling at Kotera Sub-Sector near Kotli.

Fortunately, there was no loss of life, the sources added.

Earlier on Friday, Indian troops today resorted to firing and shelling on Pakistani posts in Poonch district, the latest in a series of violations of the ceasefire in the region.

As per preliminary reports, heavy shelling started from across the border this morning.

According to ISPR, Indian forces used mortars and heavy guns during the attack, however, there was no loss of life or injury in the firing.

Pakistani troops guarding the borderline retaliated with full force silencing the Indian guns.

On December 24, 2013, the directors’ general military operations (DGMOs) of both sides had agreed to maintain ceasefire to ease tension and ensure peace at the Line of Control (LoC).

The LoC and working boundary witnessed intense skirmishes last year. The clashes had followed January attack on a Pakistani military post by Indian troops and the August ambush on an Indian border patrol by insurgents.
