LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PMLQ) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain claimed on Saturday that speaking against armed forces also constitutes constitutional violation. He asked the government why it isn’t taking actions against ministers who allegedly spoke against the army, Dunya News reported.
Addressing lawyers convention, Chaudhry Shujaat said that speaking against army constitutes treason under article 63-G of constitution, adding that the offending ministers can be disqualified by the parliament.
He said that he refers to treason as constitutional violation because the word traitor is used for the ones who aide enemies of the country.
He demanded that those ministers who talk against army should be declared ineligible. He also announced that his party won’t let Senate approve the Protection of Pakistan Bill 2014.
Earlier this week, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said that the Parliament is supreme institution and no institution should violate sanctity of other one.
Addressing during the session of the National Assembly, he said every institution protects its dignity and its personnel, but Parliament is the supreme institution of the country.
Khawaja Asif’s controversial speech targeting army at the floor of National Assembly in 2006 has also been making rounds on TV and internet media. He had lamented at army for demanding an increase in the military budget and for toppling of Nawaz’s government by the then army chief Pervez Musharraf.
Talking about Musharraf case, Khawaja Asif claimed in an interview to a local TV that former army chief Musharraf was seeking pardon from the case.
