Summary A huge public outcry was sparked on social media after police filed FIR against an infant in Lahore.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The session court has issued show-cause notice to Station House Officer (SHO) for registering case against nine-year-old baby in Lahore.

Baby Muhammad Musa along with his family members was accused of attacking police and raiding team of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in a low-lying area of Lahore on February 1.

A case of attempted murder was registering against all family members including the infant in Model Twon police sttaion.

The family of Musa appeared before the court today (Saturday) after their interim bail ended on April 12.

During the course of proceedings, the police stated that they hadn’t registered any case against the infant on which the lawyers for Musa showed his birth certificate and proved that a case was registered against the same baby. The lawyers said the police was misleading the court.

The counsels for Musa also withdrew their petition for extension in bail.

The additional session judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar issued show-case notice to SHO of Muslim Town police station for registering the case without considering the facts.

A huge public outcry was sparked on social media platforms following the incident. The locals condemned the act while slammed the police for fabricating the charges. Few also called for an action against Pakistan’s dysfunctional criminal justice system.

Pakistan last year approved raising the minimum age of criminal responsibility from seven to 12 years, except for in terrorism cases.
