Govt, Taliban committees meet today, strategy for second phase of talks finalised

Summary Dialogue process fruitful so far, the Information Minister said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has convened a joint meeting of government and Taliban dialogue committees today (Saturday).

The meeting will review the deliberations of the government team with the Taliban committee and decide about its future strategy for peace in the country.

According to government sources, strategy for second round of talks with the Taliban has been finalied.

Prisoners’ release tops the agenda, whereas, other issued will be discussed after this.

Government has started reviewing Taliban’s demand regarding release of non-combatant prisoners including women and children.

TTP negotiators have revealed that there is no hurdle in the dialogue process so far, however, Taliban shura has demanded that names of groups involved in the dialogue process should be withdrawn from banned organisations’ list.
