FO denies signs of Iranian guards' presence on Pakistani soil

Summary Pakistan would extend all possible cooperation to Iran, the FO spokesperson said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday clarified that there were no signs of Iranian guards' presence on Pakistani land.

Foreign Office spokesperson, Tasnim Aslam said during her weekly briefing , "Our authorities have combed Pakistani territory in search of missing Iranian guards; however, there are no clues that they are in Pakistan."

She further said that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif discussed this issue in a telephone conversation last night and that the tone of discussion was very polite.

She added that Pakistan and Iran enjoy deep-rooted multifaceted ties and that Pakistan was cooperating on the issue of the missing guards.

The spokesperson said that the Iranian guards went missing at least 5-10 kilometers inside Sistan and that an organization, Jaish-ul-Adl, claimed responsibility for the missing guards.

She said that Pakistan would extend all possible cooperation to Iran for the recovery of these guards
