ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Supreme Court today (Thursday) upheld Sindh High Court’s decision pertaining to delimitation of constituencies, Dunya News reported.

In a short order, the apex court said that delimitation and legislation in this regard be completed within five months.

The apex court also ordered that the Sindh government should announce schedule of the local bodies elections before November 15, 2014.

The court stated that delimitation of constituencies and holding elections was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

On Jan 4, the Sindh government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict that declared as illegal the fresh delimitations before the upcoming local government polls in the province.

Advocate General (AG) Sindh, Khalid Jawed Khan filed the petition on behalf of the provincial government in the apex court’s Karachi registry, questioning SHC judgment of December 26, 2013.
