ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Expressing dissatisfaction, Supreme Court said that a contempt notice will be issued to PM Nawaz in missing persons’ case today.
During the course of proceedings, the bench said that they didn’t issue contempt notice since federation kept on assuring that the missing persons will be produced in court, adding that the court will now issue notice.
Addressing the Attorney General Salman Butt, the bench asked him to write that it was not the responsibility of prime minister to safeguard the basic human rights of citizens.
The court said that all institutions were bound to implement court orders under Article 190 of the constitution, adding that State is responsible for provision of basic rights under Article 7.
The Attorney General apprised the court about the formation of committee over the production of missing persons on which the judge said that the committee was formed in January but no breakthrough has been made even in two months.
