APC built consensus for talks not operation: Fazl

Summary The JUI chief says his party is still in favour of peace negotiation with Taliban.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that all political parties participating All Parties Conference (APC) were on the same page to hold negotiations with Taliban and the all parties in the Parliament were taken on board.

Talking to media outside Parliament House on Wednesday, He said that the JUI still supports the process of peace talks.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he would comment on the National Security policy after its analysis and consultation within the party.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that the government was still confused over the issues however; discussing national security policy in the parliament was an appreciable act. He said the PM agreed today that all parliamentary leaders would be taken on board on the issue.

On the other hand, banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid has said the TTP has rejected government’s call for an unconditional ceasefire.

He said TTP is ready to face consequences of military operation in North Waziristan, adding that the locals will be at greater loss than the Taliban.
