MULTAN (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Water and Electricity Abid Sher Ali claimed, on Wednesday, that it has been made clear to Taliban that any more innocent bloodshed will warrant strict military action; adding that all political parties will be consulted once response from Taliban is received.
Abid Sher Ali was consoling the family of slain Major Jahanzeb Adnan Shaheed – who was martyred in Peshawar on Tuesday – and said that Prime Minister has sent him to console the family and that Prime Minister has also expressed grief over the loss.
He said that government had attempted to negotiate sincerely but Karachi was targeted by terrorists. Frontier Corps officers were martyred and Army was also targeted, and the government condemns that, he added.
Addressing media at Mepco chief office, Abid Sher Ali said that political leaders should support government in crackdown against electricity thieves instead of ‘screaming;’ because electricity theft is also akin to terrorism, the loss of which is suffered by the industry and domestic consumers, he said.
Federal minister said that the process of filing cases against electricity thieves has begin and that he is willing to pay every price to stop the Kunda (hook used to steal electricity) culture. He also suspended SDO Gilgasht upon allegedly supervising electricity thieves at commercial plazas and guest houses.
