Summary Rampant violence has terrorised country's biggest city and economic hub in recent years.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that restoration of peace in Karachi is a difficult task, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

Talking to media at the airport, the Interior Minister stated that he has arrived in Karachi to review law and order situation in the city.

He said it will be government’s utmost effort that the momentum shown in the initial three months of the targeted operation against criminals in the city is maintained.

Ch Nisar said he will hold meetings with the Chief Minister and Governor of Sindh to discuss the security situation of the city.

Karachi, Pakistan s largest city with 18 million people, has been plagued by sectarian, ethnic and political violence for years.

Rangers are currently taking part in a joint operation with police in Karachi aimed at cleansing the city of terrorists and other hardcore criminals, including hired killers, gun runners and drug peddlers.
