PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and their intermediaries have wrapped up two-day talks in the Waziristan tribal region as part of the ongoing peace negotiations with the government.
A two-member team of the Taliban mediators led by senior member of the Taliban dialogue committee, Prof. Mohammad Ibrahim, is scheduled to return from Waziristan later on Monday to share details of their talks with the Taliban.
The Taliban intermediaries will hold the second round of talks with a four-member government committee to apprise them of their discussions with the Taliban leaders.
The Taliban spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, avoided comments on details of the meeting. The Taliban are likely to issue a formal statement sometime later.
Shahidullah, who was present at the talks at an undisclosed location in Waziristan tribal region, did not confirm reports in the local media about the ceasefire and conditions.
Taliban say that their political committee s members had been involved in long discussions on several "complicated" issues with their intermediaries over the past two days.
