Summary US Ambassador to Pakistan said US is committed to helping Pakistan curb terrorism.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – In a statement issued from the United States embassy in Islamabad US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson has trashed the notion that the US is involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.
The ambassador said US willing to help Pakistan investigate the grave act of terror that took place in Peshawar Thursday killing 8 and injuring 60. He said that the US continues to be concerned of the growing terror attacks in Pakistan. “We condemn attacks on places of worship, be it in Pakistan or anywhere else,” he said as reported by Dunya News.
He went on to say that the acts of violence by extremists are an attack on the traditions of Pakistani people and that they threaten the bright future of all Pakistani citizens.
The notion that the US has an involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan undermines the support that is provided to Pakistani authorities to curb terrorism, he added.
The ambassador also said that the US is hopeful for the stability of Pakistan and the region and will continue to play its role for the same.
United States of America often comes in the limelight of accusations especially in the wake of controversial war on terror. It merits mentioning here that a popular opinion including that of PTI chief links terrorist activities in Pakistan to the US.
