MULTAN (Web Desk/AFP) - A bomb blast near a passenger train (Khushhal Khan Khattak Express) killed at least four people and wounded 60 others on Friday in central Pakistan.

The bombing took place in the central town of Rajanpur, some 200 kilometres (120 miles) south of Multan in Punjab province.

Eight train wagons fell from the track which was going from the troubled northwestern city of Peshawar to Karachi, a police official said.

Railways police official Raja Zaheer Arshad also confirmed the blast and casualties.

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. 

So far, nobody has immediately claimed the responsibility for the bombing.

The government says more than 40,000 people have been killed in the terrorism-related incidents since 2001, when Pakistan allied itself with the US-led "war on terror".
