Summary The power tariff has been under monthly fuel adjustment plan.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday approved an increase in the power tariff by Rs 1 per unit, Dunya News reported.
As per details, the power tariff has been raised under the monthly fuel adjustment plan and it will be applied in the next month’s bills.
Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to increase the electricity price by Rs1/unit on account of monthly fuel price adjustment of the month of December.
The CPPA in its request pleaded to the regulator that cost of power generation with high-speed diesel (HSD) remained at Rs23/unit and furnace oil Rs 16.57 per unit.
Authorities told Nepra that water outflow from dams remained low due to closure of canals that is why fuel demand surged for electricity generation.
Later, NEPRA approved Rs1/unit power tariff.
