LAHORE (Web Desk) - The 137th birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated throughout the country on Wednesday.
A change of guard ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Wednesday morning.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Military Academy Kakool took guards responsibility at the Mazar from Pakistan Air Force cadets.
Commandant of the Academy‚ Major General Nazir Ahmad Butt inspected the guard‚ offered Fateha and laid a wreath at the Mazar.
People from various walks of life will also visit the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam to pay homage to the founder of Pakistan. A number of organisations organised programmes to mark the day.
Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. They offered fateha and placed floral wreath at the Mazar.
Various cultural organizations and educational institutions held functions to highlight the life and political achievements of the great leader.
A ceremony was also held at Karachi’s Wazir Mansion, the birth place of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Provincial Minister Sharmila Farooqui, Sindh govt officials and a large number of people attended the function.
President Mamnoon Hussain in his message on the occasion of the Quaid’s birth anniversary said Pakistan can overcome the prevailing challenges by following the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with birth anniversary of the father of the nation at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Wednesday, the President said the commemoration of birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam is an occasion to reaffirm commitment to the ideals of democracy‚ egalitarianism‚ constitutionalism and rule of law‚ which were upheld by the great leader throughout his life.
He said the need to follow the path of the Quaid-e Azam and adhere to his principles of Unity‚ Faith and Discipline is never as greater as it is today.
The President said the path shown by the founder of Pakistan can earn us a distinguished place in the community of nations. He said today our institutions are on the way to progress and prosperity.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in a massage issued on the occasion of 137th birthday of the father of nation, said that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah made history by carving out a new state by the strength of his wisdom, steadfastness, righteousness and statesmanship.
“The great Quaid envisioned Pakistan to be an independent homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent where they could live their lives according to their religious and cultural beliefs,” Nawaz added.
The PM reminded that Quaid envisioned Pakistan to be country where democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights will hold sway, adding his dream of Pakistan was of a country where there would be no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or religion and where all citizens would enjoy equal rights, he added.
“On this auspicious day, we should pledge and resolve to work whole-heartedly and dedicatedly to build a strong and prosperous Pakistan,” the PM urged.
Prime Minister said that patriotism, dedicated work and selfless service for the greater glory of Pakistan could be the most befitting tribute to the memory of Quaid-e-Azam.
